If gambling no longer feels recreational, end the session and seek help. Do not try to recover a loss. In Switzerland, SOS Jeu offers confidential support on 0800 040 080. In immediate danger, contact emergency services.
Warning signs
Lying about time or money, borrowing, chasing losses, neglecting work, sleep or relationships, and gambling to change mood are warning signs that justify a break and professional advice. A win does not cancel those signs.
Practical barriers
Set an affordable loss before leaving, leave unnecessary credit cards at the hotel, schedule an exit time and tell a trusted person. Transport and accommodation are never part of the gambling budget. Do not use alcohol or fatigue to explain away a breached limit.
Getting help
SOS Jeu and cantonal services can explain counselling, exclusion and support for relatives. This page does not replace a healthcare professional. If you fear for financial or personal safety, leave the venue, block access to funds and immediately contact a trusted person or competent service.
